Saffron or turmeric root is a healthy ingredient with many uses in the kitchen. Similar to ginger root, this food additive has many medicinal properties. Used in many recipes i also exotic Arabian cuisine kitchen.
Their rhizomes are part of the plant that has properties and utilities in the kitchen. They perish ginger rhizomes with an internal yellow to orange, cylindrical and very aromatic. Turmeric extract is obtained scratching the rhizome and drying the product, widely used as a colorant (E-10). The difference with other dyes is that it provides some aroma and flavor to dishes, in addition to yellow.
You can add a little turmeric to stew with coconut milk, cream or broth, adding a sweet and a little spicy. Also excellent addition to rice, fish and poultry dishes or pork.
