This variety comes from the Arab Mediterranean, especially Morocco and other countries belonging to the Middle East. They are planted in the desert oasis because they need plenty of water so they can survive.

The Medjool date is the largest size, fine texture and delicate flavor. In antiquity were carefully cultivated by the people of Morocco to please the Arab sheiks and their families, whom they labeled as the most delicious of all dates.
